FMP: Idea development

Over the past week I asked myself what I wanted to do and achieve from my self led project. I want to experiment with imagery using the cameras and lights. I also want to experiment with light and shade and attempt a variety of shots including long shots.

Having re-evaluated my intentions, I realised that shooting a car journey wouldn't allow for these processes to develop or even occur at all. I would not be able to us lights and I would have more difficulties shooting which would detract from my focus as Director and DOP.

I have been reading various books around these roles including "Setting up your shots- Great Camera Moves Every Filmmaker Should Know". In this book I read about different POV techniques which inspired my new idea.

5 films at 2 minutes long.

The Scene: Morning Routine.
Wake up.
Stop Alarm.
Get up drowsily.
Go to toilet.
Brush Teeth.
Have Breakfast.
Hot Drink.
Get Dressed.
Grab Keys.
Leave Home.
Get in Car.

The 5 films will be this scene in the following Points of Views.

Voyeur
Dark Voyeur
Object POV
Shadow
POV

Voyeur - the audience will not realise that the camera is actually a character. We will see the protagonist doing his routine and reveal the camera's identity at the end with the protagonist addressing the camera.

Dark Voyeur, the protagonist will be viewed through windows and hedges/ cupboards, they are being stalked ominously.

Object POV, The camera will be various objects around the home, switching between each one as we follow the protagonist around the home.

Shadow. We will see the protagonist's shadow going about the daily routine.

POV. I will try to think of ways to make the Point of View of the protagonist interesting and creative.
