As Live: Jam!

So I have been trying to develop this idea as well as the Street View one as this is the idea I would rather work on for the rest of term.

I posted an ad on Gumtree last night just to see if I get any responses from musicians.

I have been thinking about the format and what to do with the show.

Title:
JAM

Idea:
A selection of 5 different eclectic and unusual musicians are brought together to create music and sounds in an attempt to draw awareness to different styles and methods of music making. As well as these five there would be shortlisters in front of the audience (like on who wants to be a millionaire). Then if the host decides any of the 5 aren't making the cut, they can be replaced.

The Host will be musical. I am currently thinking he could be a DJ/MC. Because that would allow for a better gelled end result. He could be well known or famous to attract an audience but I would have unknown and aspiring DJ/MCs in the audience who could come up and take the reigns to showcase their talents. (This would have to be a minor element of the show).

So the intro would be about 1 and a half minutes long. The musicians would be tuning and the title would come across the screen. Then the host would introduce the show over the continued tuning.

Then he would sweep us over to introduce the musicians individually for another minute. Either the others would continue tuning and the sound would be turned down on them to accentuate the featured individual or the tuning would stop altogether and just the person featured would make sounds. They would be introduced by the host while they tuned/demonstrated their instrument and wave at the camera.

The Host would heavily control the show as he would instruct the musicians what to do and when, like a composer.

Jam to film/tv. This could be funny but depends on the instruments.
Jam to popular music.--> So create own version of popular songs, change the genre perhaps. This could be fun and provide online content -> downloads of songs performed.
Create own song and music. With audience participation and mc/dj.

Would this be good to watch though? I Don't know. =S.
