Major Project Unit: Idea Developing

Today to give us a kind of head start we are researching what the industry is looking for to try and identify our broadcasting partner and think of ideas for them rather than the other way around.

Channel Five are very detailed about what they are looking for.

Although this was a good and interesting exercise I didn't feel that it inspired me in any one direction. I was interested by the channel 5 Children's programming commissioning information and the fact that they are looking for pre-school docusoaps. Which sounds very strange to me and I don't want to go down that route!

  1. Remember to check out channels relevant to the genre you are thinking of working in - digital channels such as Good Food etc.Really this is an exercise in grounding you in the real world - looking at what is likely to be commissioned and finding out what is missing from the schedules etc so that you are not only original but relevant.
