Initial Ideas:
How To / Educational / Informative
- Cooking Tips
Looking at one minute films on youtube.
There seems to be a trend for condensing films into one minute, check out this guy:
This is one example out of three.
There are also a lot of cooking "one minutes" but most of the videos are more than 1 minute long. Apart from this kooktocook channel. Click the video to see more on the channel.
It's quite successful but the song is AWFUL, I had to stop watching them after two episodes because I couldn't take it any more. The font, Comic Sans... COME ON. Terrible. The editing is ok... The content is clearly informative but pretty boring to watch.
This is another 1 minute cooking one I found. It's also pretty boring to watch. But one thing that I hadn't thought about is sound! The sounds for food cooking could be awesome. Like in food adverts. For example the lurpak advert I posted in my But it's Just Butter post (http://catdorsett.blogspot.com/2011/01/but-its-just-butter.html). The sounds in that are exaggerated and not always the actual sounds of the foods. When the eggs are poured into the pan it sounds like water or wind. But chopping vegetables, breaking eggs, whisking, slicing, dicing, sizzling are all great sounds and could work really well in a snappy 1 minute piece.
My ideas for a cooking series were:
quick and easy 1 minute meals to take to work with you (these are ideas not titles haha). Or easy ways to eat healthily.
Quick and easy meals for people who are on their way home from work contemplating dinner / having to feed the family when they get home and perhaps can't be bothered to slave over the over for hours. This would work as an app with daily/ weekly videos with 1 minute walk-throughs on easy meals.
Easy meals for students who are strangers to cooking. So people who have never had to cook for themselves before or who don't have a clue. Perhaps they know how to cook but not what to buy (so they buy food that doesn't quite work in meals together). These would be meals that are cheap to make.
