At the end of this scene, in the book, Roy leaves the court to see a headline about him.
Because this would probably be a few hours after his appearance in the witness stand and I am ending the scene with him leaving the witness stand, I decided to show him seeing the headline on the news the next day in the next scene.
"Police Officer admits to occult practices"
I like that one of the first scenes with Roy shows that he makes mistakes. He is being scrutinized for his open mindedness and for using a medium to help solve a case. This gets him in trouble with his boss which we see early on too. It makes him human, which I like.
